2. From Ingrid to Bergen

2026 (on going)
interactive documentary

Technology is reshaping our relationships and communication with the dead, using the digital traces they leave behind. Decades before these technologies emerged, I was already doing something similar.

From Ingrid to Bergen is an interactive documentary about grief, memory, theatre, and the technologies we use to maintain relationships with what is no longer there. Moving across nineteen years, the project brings together personal archives, photographs, paintings, videos, and texts from different phases of an experience of loss. An idea of a grandmother, a promise, ghosts, forests, neurodivergence, theatre, and Ingrid Bergman form a shifting map through memory and reconstruction, tracing not only the loss of a person but also the loss of what I once imagined becoming.

4. 29 26

2018
short-film
non-fiction / ethnographic film

29 26 is an audiovisual recording of the thoughts and feelings of two sixteen-year-old and two nineteen-year-old girls, who in monologues reveal their concerns and ideas about the life they’ll lead in ten years. The director underscores their speech with stylized and realistic images of themselves, acquired under varying circumstances and on different materials, thus creating an original work of art connecting elements of multiple artistic areas that are close to the author. Long shots of the protagonists’ faces, captured in great detail, are highlighted with expressive illumination and interleaved with poetic, experimentally conceived passages.

29 26, tries to be an intimate and honest tribute/portrait about growing up, creating a new space, between performance and film hoping to remember who we were one day.

“Portuguese director Pedro Velho will take part in the Jihlava IDFF this year with the film “29 26″ included in the Opus Bonum competition. The work deals with the ideas, emotions and expectations of four teenage girls. Stylized shots on the details of their faces, accompanied by authentic monologues, create a meditative atmosphere, and the viewer has a soothing yet active attitude. Sincerity from the protagonists’ utterances completes the atmosphere of friendly encounter and openness to the audience” – Matúš Slamka, 2018
